Ingredients needed

Cabbage – 20 Grams
Carrot – 30 Grams
Tamarinds Raw – 5 Grams
Sambar Powder – 1 TableSpoon
Tuvar Dal / Toor Dal / Thuvaram Parupu – 25 Grams
Onions Raw – 15 Grams
Tomato Raw – 15 Grams
Coriander Leaves / Cilantro – 2 Sprig
Green Chilli – 2 Grams
Salt – 1 Teaspoon
Water – 100 Milli Litre (ML)
Asafoetida (Hing) – 2 Grams
Turmeric Powder / Turmeric Spices – 0.25 TableSpoon

Temper:
Oil – 0.5 TableSpoon
Mustard seeds – 2 Grams
Cumin Seed/ Jeera – 0.25 TableSpoon
Curry leaves – 2 Sprig

The Preparation Methods:

Step 1: In a pressure cooker, add tuvar dal, salt, little oil. Pressure cook till tender. Maybe for 3-6 whistles. Now set this dal aside.

Step 2: In a large crock pot, heat little oil. Add onions and fry till it is transluscent.

Step 3: Then add tomatoes and fry till they turn pulpy. Add salt, turmeric and green chilli to this. Fry for 2 minutes.

Step 4: Now stir-in sliced cabbage, carrot and stir-fry for 2 minutes.

Step 5: Add cooked tuvar dal now. Cover and cook till the veggies are done.

Step 6: When the veggies are done, add tamarind paste, samabar powder, asafoetida (hing) powder and cilantro leaves. Bring this to boil once. Then transfer the contents to another bowl.

Step 7:In a seperate pan, heat oil and fry the tempering items in it. Then run this seasonning over the sambar prepared.

Serve hot with Cooked rice or idly, dosa.
