Ingredients needed

Tuvar Dal/Toor dal/Thuvaram parupu – 30 grams
Onion – 15 grams
Tomato – 15 grams
Sambar Powder – 1 Tablespoon (Readymade pack)
Turmeric powder – 0.25 tablespoon
Coriander leaves – 2 sprig
Curry leaves – 1 sprig (tender leaves)
Tamarind – a small gooseberry size (very less)
Salt – 1 Teaspoon
Chilli Powder – 0.5 TableSpoon
Asafoetida (Hing) – 0.5 Grams
Tamarinds Raw – 5 Grams

For the seasoning
Oil – 1 tblsp
Mustard and Urad dal – 2 grams

The Preparation Methods:

Step 1: Soak tamarind (Take half of what you take, to prepare sambar for 4 persons) in half cup of water and extract juice. Discard the pulp.
Step 2: Take a pressure pan or a small pressure cooker, add Tuvar Dal/Toor dal/Thuvaram parupu, chopped tomatoes, chopped onions, coriander leaves, turmeric powder, chilli powder, sambar powder, salt, needed and 1 1/2 cups of water. Pressure cook for 3 whistles.
Step 3: Open after the pressure is released. Mash it well. Add tamarind extract and bring it to boil on medium heat. add the little Asafoetida (Hing) also.
Stpe 4: Heat oil, add mustard seeds, urad dal and curry leaves, when it splutters, add it to the above dal.

Instant Sambar is Ready. Serve with Idly, dosa and rice also.
