Here we see the preparation step by step methods of Masala Dosa and complete nutritions of masal dosa. A masala dosa is made by stuffing a dosa with lightly cooked potatoes, onions, green chilli and spices. its one of the most popular South Indian Special dosa varieties.

Ingredients needed

Make Dosa batter = 1 Cup – Here is Dosa batter Receipe.

Dosa Batter:

Idly rice / Ground Rice / Par boiled Rice_Raw – 75Grams
Raw Rice / Pachaarisi / Glutinous rice_Raw – 5 Grams
Fenugreek Seeds / Fenugreek Spices – 0.25 TableSpoon
Salt – 1 teaspoon (adjust as per your taste)

for the potato filling for Masala dosa:

Onions Raw – 20 Grams
Tomato Raw – 15 Grams
Potato Cooked – 30 Grams
Green Chilli Raw / Green Chilli Peppers – 0.25 Grams
Coriander Leaves / Cilantro – 1 Sprig
Water – 150 Milli Litre (ML)
Garam Masala Powder / Spices Mixture – 1 Teaspoon
Carrot_Raw – 10 Grams
Ginger Raw / Ginger Slices ( 1″ dia) – 3 Count
Turmeric Powder / Turmeric Spices – 0.25 TableSpoon
Salt – 1 Teaspoon (adjust as per your taste)

To tempering of potato filling
Oil 1 tblsp
Mustard seeds – 5 Grams
Urad dal / white lentils/ Vigna mungo raw/ Uludham parupu – 2 Grams
Cashewnuts / Nuts – 5 Grams
Curry leaves – 1 Sprig

The Preparation Methods:

STEP 1:
Wash and cut each potato into 4 and pressure cook with 1/2 cup water for 3 whistles. Peel off the skin and mash it well. Heat a pan with oil and temper with the items given under ‘to temper’ table in order. Let the cashews turn golden.

STEP 2:
Add chopped ginger, green chilli, onion,tomato and fry well for a minute. Add 1/4 cup water and turmeric.

Add the mashed potatoes and mix well. Fry for 2-3 minutes, add oil if needed more.

STEP 4:
Spread dosa (refer tips page – dosa tips) thin , drizzle some oil or best ghee and when it gets cooked, no need to flip, just spread a ladle full of masala prepared in the middle.

STEP 5: Adding finely chopped ginger not only enhances the flavour, also helps in digesting the potato. If you finely chop, then you wont even get it to know while eating. If you don’t want that, you can also grind the ginger and green chilli with water mentioned in step 2 and use it.
